2. Location Data Collection
⚠️ Important: Background Location Access
Minaida collects your precise location data even when the app is closed or not in use to enable the following features:
2.1 What Location Data We Collect
- Foreground Location: Your device's GPS location when the app is open and actively in use
- Background Location: Your device's GPS location continuously during active rides, even when:
- The app is running in the background
- Your screen is locked
- You switch to another app
- The app is closed but a ride is in progress
2.2 Why We Collect Background Location
We collect background location data for the following essential purposes:
- Active Ride Tracking: Monitor your real-time position during ongoing trips to show drivers your location and update ETAs
- Safety Features: Enable emergency contacts to track your trip in real-time for your safety
- Driver Notifications: Alert you when your driver arrives at pickup location, even if the app is closed
- Accurate Fare Calculation: Calculate precise trip distances for fair pricing
- Service Quality: Verify pickup and drop-off locations to resolve disputes and improve service
2.3 When We Collect Location Data
- Before Booking: To show your current location and find nearby drivers
- During Active Rides: Continuous tracking from pickup to drop-off
- Between Rides: We do NOT track your location when you don't have an active ride
Your Privacy: Background location tracking is ONLY active during rides. When you don't have an ongoing trip, we do not collect your location data in the background.
2.4 How Long We Store Location Data
- Trip History: Location data for completed trips is stored for 90 days for safety, dispute resolution, and customer support purposes
- After 90 Days: Trip location data is automatically deleted from our active systems
- Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer if required by law or for legal proceedings
2.5 Controlling Location Access
You can control location permissions at any time through your device settings:
- Android: Settings → Apps → Minaida → Permissions → Location
- iOS: Settings → Minaida → Location
Note: Disabling location access will prevent you from booking rides and using core app features.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Match riders and drivers based on real-time location
- Facilitate ride bookings and payments
- Track active rides and provide real-time updates
- Calculate accurate trip distances and fares
- Verify and manage user accounts
- Improve app performance and services

- Provide safety features and emergency assistance
